Abstract The present study analyzed the karyotype of Argyrosomus regius, Pomadasys stridens, Sparus aurata and Dicentrarchus labrax and all had 48 acrocentric chromosomes. SCoT analysis was performed on a four fish species of family Mugilidae showing that genetic similarity was the highest between Mugil capito and Liza seheli and between Mugil auratus and Liza seheli and the lowest was between Mugil cephalus and Mugil capito and between Mugil cephalus and Mugil auratus. SCoT analysis was also performed on two species of Moronidae showing that genetic similarity between Dicentrarchus punctus and Dicentrarchus labrax was 75.5%. Genetic similarity was the highest between Sparus aurata and Diplodus cervinus and the lowest was between Sparua aurata and Diplodus sargus of Sparidae using ISSR technique. |
