Abstract Relevant reliable accounting information plays various important roles which are represented in the objectives of financial statements for providing information about the financial position, performance and changes in financial position of an enterprise that is useful to a wide range of potential -primary- users in making rational investment and econamic decisions. The IASB Conceptual Framework for Financial Reporting (2001) answered the question about the identification of user groups, the statement identifies the investor groups as the primary users for whom the fmancial statements are being prepared. It then states the information needs of the users as follows: Stakeholders need information to assess the performance of the management and make fmancing and investment decisions. The financial information, an output of the accounting systems, is communicated and published through the periodic fmancials to serve the needs of any party to know the fmancial performance, fmancial position and evaluate of the fmancial and investment decisions about the economic business entity. In this era of information-based-economics and corporate governance and the disclosure and transparency as a main pillar of corporate governance, the researcher sees how much important the disclosure of accounting information is, and how can it be used variously by stakeholders in making rational decisions. |
