Abstract

This research will develop an urban design system by experimenting the parametric
tools to simulate and control urban form on the neighborhood level. This parametric
urban design (PUD) system is applicable in most design context. It provides good
visualization output in order to design the main features of a neighbor to generate
dynamic neighborhood. It will investigate the emergence of this methodology
(Pinto, Viera, and NETO 2013). The research methodology will include Algorithmic
model built by Rhino 3D and Grasshopper.
The researcher seeks to apply parametric methods or techniques to develop
an urban model to allow urban designers to controlthe generation of visualized
3D and 20 elements of a neighborhood. It creates a data set that can be utilized to
simulate PUD system on neighborhood scale. It also Develop a parametric model by
applying software in order to deliver a dynamic approach which can resist the
changes. The model is able to interactive with the existing location. Then evaluates
the results. The research focus on the streets and grids pattern as the main
generator of the neighborhood. it apply the streets pattern through parametric
technique to generates a neighborhood. The research also focus on the dynamic
neighborhood with its fact and how it can be generated through parametric tools.
To achieve the established research goals and verify the research hypotheses, the
research will include the following parts:
Part I Problem Identification
This part includes Chapter One. It discusses why we need urban parametricism as a
new technique for neighborhood generation and way the traditional way in urban
planning fail to fulfil the future need, it also includes problem identification,
Research hypotheses, Research goals& objectives, and Research methodology and
structure
Part 11: Theoretical and Literature Review,
This part is divided into two main chapters; the first one includes neighborhood
models, elements and features, and relationship between them. It also discusses
urban pattern from different vision and concludes one classification that covers
almost all the urban patterns. the second part involve the definition of urban
parametricism and its tool. and how problems can be solved by using the Algorithmic
method Then it illustrate the parametric pattern to formulate the urban
