Abstract

Summary
11β-HSD1 generates cortisol from cortisone. 11β-HSD1 single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) was associated with metabolic syndrome (MeTS). Although the relation of acne vulgaris (AV) and skin tags (STs) with MeTS has been reported, the relationship between 11β-HSD 1 SNP and cortisol activity in those patients has not studied till now.
The Aim of this study is to investigate, two 11β-HSD1 SNPs (rs846910 and rs12086634), serum lipid profile and cortisol levels in patients with AV and STs in an Egyptian population.
The period of this work is two years beginning from 28-1-2018 to 28-1-2020, starting from sampling from the patient from January 2018 to May 2018, performing the clinical investigations, obtaining the results and writing the thesis.
This study was carried out at Biochemistry devision, Chemistry department, Faculty of Science, Medical Biochemistry, Dermatology and Andrology departments, Faculty of Medicine, Menoufia University in coborration. The study was carried out on 150 subjects. The patients were attendants of outpatient Dermatology and Andrology Clinic- Menoufia University Hospitals during the period from January 2018 to May 2018, and the practical work was extended to January 2020.
The studied subjects were divided into three groups: group I: Included 50 patients with acne vulgaris, they are 37 males and 13 females with mean age of (29.64±3.91). group II: Included 50 patient with Skin Tags, They are 39 males and 11 females with mean age of (30.48±6.35).
