Abstract The present study was carried out to evaluate gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides) micropropagation using segments (1-2 cm) that contained one node at least excised from soft cuttings. Half strength MS medium supplemented with30 gl-1 sucrose, 7 gl-1 Agar and 2 mgl-1 Benzyladenine (BA)was used for establishment of uncontaminated cultures and multiplication of aseptic explants. Different concentrations of IAA and Kin was used during axillary shoots multiplication stage. Obtained results revealed that culturing the aseptic shoots as explants of gardenia on a medium containing 1 mgl-1 BA and 1 mgl-1 Kin gave the highest number of shoots (2.81 and 1.84 shoots/explants respectively). |
