Abstract

The study is done to investigate the flexural capacity of planting
reinforced cantilever beam on exist reinforced concrete element. The
study is performed on two stages. The first stage is done to evaluate the
tensile capacity of single adhesive steel bar subjected to pull-out loading
and the second stage is done to assess the flexural capacity of planting
cantilever beam on an existing column.
The investigations are done experimentally and theoretically. The
studying parameters considered in the first stage are the bar diameter (d =
12mm and 16mm), the embedment length (hef= 6d, 8d, 10d, and 12d).
The parameter studied in the second stage are the reinforcement ratio (fl =
0.25% (control specimen), 0.38%, 0.50%, and 0.63% (planted
specimens), embedment length (15d and 20d), and the orientation of the
embedment bar.
The results of the experimental study include the failure load, the crack
patterns, load-deflection, load-strain of main steel, load-strain of concrete,
and load-strain of stirrups relations. A comparison between experimental
results and ACI 318-14 code is presented in this study for the two stages.
A nonlinear finite element method (ANSYS) is used to verify the
experimental results and investigating new parameters in the two stages.
In the first stage, the new parameter is to study the effect of increasing the
confinement system around the planted steel bar. In the second stage, the
new parameter is to study the effect of using same reinforcement ratio (u
= 0.25%) used in the control model with variable embedment length (15d
and 20d).
