This research aims to develop the non-verbal ommunication skills of student teachers at Special Education Section, Hearing Impairment Specialization using an active earning based program and measure its efficiency. The forementioned entailed the theoretical study of the researches, studies and literature relative to the present research so as to design a list of the non-verbal communication skills of the student teachers at Special Education Section Hearing Impairment Specialization; establish the bases of the active learning based program; and design a cognitive test and a performance score card of the non-verbal communication skills for the student teachers. The researcher used the following procedures:•Designing a list of the non-verbal communication skills of the student teachers at Special Education Section Hearing Impairment Specialization. •Designing the active Learning based program to develop the non-verbal communication skills of student teachers at Special Education Section, Hearing Impairment Specialization. •Designing the faculty member guide to implement the active learning based program to develop the non - verbal communication skills. •Designing the student guide including the content of the non-verbal communication as a manual. •Designing the students paperwork to be answered for the activities used to implement the program. •Designing cognitive test of the non-verbal communication skills of the student teachers at Special Education Section Hearing Impairment Specialization. •Designing a performance score card to measure the performance aspect of the non-verbal communication skills of the student teachers at Special Education Section Hearing Impairment Specialization. •Selecting the research group of junior student teachers at Special Education Section Hearing Impairment Specialization. •Implementing the cognitive pre-test of the performance aspect of the non-verbal communication skills and the performance score card for the student teachers of the research group. Then teaching the research group using the active learning based program. Finally, implementing the cognitive post-test and the same performance score card. After finishing the aforementioned experiment, the pre- and post- scores were statistically analyzed. Here are the most important findings: The efficiency of the active Learning based program in developing the cognitive and performance aspects of non-verbal communication skills of the junior student teachers at Special Education Section Hearing Impairment Specialization. Finally, the researcher submitted some recommendations and suggestions in light of the research findings.
