Abstract The aim of the present study was to investigate theimmunohistochemical expression of TGF-β1 and COX-2 in differentvariants of ACC (cribriform, tubular/trabecular and solid) and alsocorrelate the expression of the two markers with each other. A total of 30 specimens were collected. The standard avidin-biotinperoxidasetechnique has been used in the present study for detection of TGF- β1and COX-2, the immunostaining of these markers were evaluated by an image analyzer computer system. The study demonstrated that COX-2 and TGF-β1expression was significantly increased in solid variant of ACC than other patterns and thus concluded that COX-2 and TGF-β1expression are directly related to ACC histopathological grade. The study also showed a significant direct correlation between the immunostaining of TGF-β1 and COX-2.In most of cases the increase in COX-2 expression is associated with increase in TGF-β1expression, which may indicate that TGF-β1 induce the expression of COX-2. |
