Abstract Background: Cancer is still one of the major public health problems in the world. Heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) has emerged as an ideal and selective new target for anticancer therapy and development of HSP90 inhibitors has become one of the leading areas of research in recent drug discovery and development. Several literature surveys were enlightening the synthesis and evaluation of the antitumor activity of quinazoline containing drugs through inhibition of HSP90 activity. The present investigation involves the design and synthesis of new 2-thioquinazolin-4-one derivatives as candidates of HSP90 inhibitors. |
