Abstract

Educational environment can be qualified as anything surrounds an educational situation. It strongly impacts student well-being and satisfaction. So, it is important to have a feedback from students on how they experience their educational environment Aim: The current study aimed to study the educational environment of the faculty of nursing at Suez Canal University.Method: Comparative descriptive design conducted on 437 students in all academic grades, using Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure as a valid and reliable instrument. Results: The total Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure score 113/200 and highest percentage (66.4%) of student evaluated total educational environment and all its dimensions as a third level. In addition, the students’ academic self-perception dimension scored the highest percentage (62.0%) compared to student’ perceptions of atmosphere (49.4%).Total educational environment scored highest mean (115.2±22.6) for first academic grades than third academic grades (110.8±24.4) with no statistically significant difference among all academic grades. Male (117.5±23.1) scored a higher mean than female (110±25.1) with statistical significant difference except the student perception of teaching dimension. Conclusion: The educational environment of faculty of nursing is more positive than negative and need to be enhanced for all its dimension except student perception of atmosphere that have problematic area with no statistical significant difference among the academic grades. Recommendations: Continues monitor of all learning and teaching issues by quality management system and make needed change to enhance educational environment.
