Abstract Self-care has an important impact on woman, such as empower feeling of wellbeing, better symptoms management such as reduction in pain, anxiety, depression, and an increase in life expectancy Design: Aquasi-experimental study design was used Aim: to evaluate the effect of evidence based nursing guideline to improve self-care practice among postnatal women in Ismailia general hospital Setting: The stud y was conducted at the postnatal departments and outpatient clinic at Ismailia general hospital. Sample size: The study was conducted on 206 mothers during postnatal period. Sample type: A Purposive sample technique was used to select the sample for the study. Tools: four tools of data collections were used; a structured interview questionnaire, Likert scale, observational checklist. Results: Concerning post-natal self-care practices after intervention the study revealed that 89.8% of mothers performed breast care correctly, 85.0% performed perineal care correctly,and 79.1% weren’t implementing follow up visits. The study revealed that, there are highly significant difference pre and post interventions of postpartum nursing guide line for mothers. Conclusion: it is concluded that it was effective to increase the knowledge, practice and had positive attitudes toward post natal self-care among mothers. Recommendation: Conducting an educational program for mothers must be started during late pregnancy to inform mothers about routine self-care during postnatal period. Providing pamphlets and posters for mothers to increase their awareness about postpartum self-care practice. |
