Abstract

This study was conducted on twelve completely edentulous patients to compare the effect of two different denture base materials; conventional heat cured PMMA and metal reinforced polyamide on the biting force of mandibular complete denture.
The patients were divided into two equal groups, group I received conventional heat cured maxillary denture and metal reinforced polyamide mandibular denture and group II received conventional maxillary and mandibular heat cured PMMA.
Conventional steps for denture construction were followed until centric relation record for both groups. group I after centric relation had record, „T‟ shape holes “diatorics” in teeth of selected shade were formed as mechanical mean of retention then mandibular master cast was duplicated to refractory cast on which metal frame work with metal stopper was constructed to allow accurate repositioning of frame during injection of polyamide material.
Dentures were delivered and occlusal adjustments for all patients in both groups were done before measurement of retentive force. Patients of both groups were evaluated by retentive force measurements at the time of prosthesis insertion as well as three and six weeks later by digital force gauge.
