In light of the complexity of the issues of the age and its interactions, and the dialogue or clash of civilizations, a serious split has emerged in the structure of human society, especially the moral side. This is because the difficulty of contemporary life has led to an increase in the number of psychological, social and educational problems among a large segment of society, including primary school pupils, as primary school pupils fall into the most dangerous stages of life a person goes through, and the danger is that they fall into a critical stage in which they move from Childhood through adolescence, with many internal and external conflicts. And due to the changes that accompany the growth aspects of the different elementary stage pupils, such as physical, mental, social, emotional and moral, as well as the prevalence of behavioral disorders that have penetrated into the moral value attitude, and have caused a change in their moral behavior along with the supremacy of material values, the moral and spiritual values being sidelined, the absence of values of justice, brotherhood, sympathy and others. A widespread concern among the educational, psychological, social, counseling, and other reformers regarding the erosion and decline of moral values from the educational formula, thus, the subjective incentives of the moral mind becomes weak .
The study problem can be formulated in the following question:
What is the effectiveness of the program for the development of moral intelligence, and its impact on sexual harassment behavior among primary school students ?
The main question has following sub-questions:
1- Is there a difference among the members of the experimental group between pre and post measurement on the moral intelligence scale?
2- Is there a difference among the members of the experimental group between the post and consecutive measurements on the IQ scale?
3- Is there a difference among the members of the experimental group between the pre and post measurement on the scale of sexual harassment?
4- Is there a difference among the members of the experimental group between the post and consecutive on the sexual harassment scale?
Objectives of the study:
The study aims to:
Knowing the effectiveness of the program for developing the moral intelligence of primary school students, and its effect on sexual harassment behavior.
The studying importance:
Theoretical importance :
The current study provides some information and data about children who have been subjected to sexual harassment, and children subject to sexual harassment, which help mental health workers and specialists in successfully dealing with these children by providing social, family and school care, to provide the ideal conditions that help them develop moral intelligence, which positively effects on this behavior, its total disposal, and their psychological compatibility with the community around them.
Applied importance:
1- The results of the current study can provide data and information that helps in scientific planning, making strategies and policies for the development of moral intelligence among primary school pupils, and its impact on sexual harassment behavior.
2- The program aims to develop the moral intelligence of primary school students and its impact on sexual harassment behavior for them as a model that can be used in schools and institutions that provide psychological care for students at this stage.
3- The results of this study can contribute in showing students acceptance of the program and their willingness to train in ethical development guidelines.
Study Approach :
The researcher used the quasi-experimental design method in the present study to suit the requirements of the study, which aims to know the effect of the program on the development of moral intelligence, and a one-group experimental design was used.
The study limits :
(A) Schedule limits:
The duration of the study for the program ranges between (6-8) weeks, at the rate of (5) sessions per a week, the time for each session is (45) minutes, and the number of program sessions has reached (45) sessions.
(B) Spatial limits :
The moral intelligence development program and its effect on sexual harassment behavior have been applied to primary school students in Beni Suef Governorate - Beba Educational Administration - new Beba Primary Institute
(C) Human limits :
The sample of the study consists of (14) male and female students from the sixth grade students.
(D) Methodological limits:
The researcher used the semi-experimental approach to its suitability for the current study by conducting Pre , post and consecutive measurements as it attempts to verify the effectiveness of the program in developing moral intelligence, and its effect on sexual harassment behavior among primary school students, and the following variables were addressed:
- The independent variable, which is moral intelligence.
- The sequence variable, sexual harassment.
The study sample:
1- Survey Study Sample:
The sample size of the exploratory study was (36) male and female students from the sixth elementary class in New Beba Institute in Beni Suef Governorate, who were randomly chosen. This is to verify the validity and reliability of the study tools.
2- Basic study sample:
The number of the students of the basic study reached (14) male and female students (10 male and 4 female students), who were chosen after applying the moral intelligence and the sexual harassment scales, and the degrees obtained in both measures were below average, and accordingly the program was applied to them.
Study tools:
1- Moral Intelligence Scale (Prepared by Ismail Dakhli 2014).
2- Sexual Harassment scale (prepared by the researcher).
3- The moral intelligence development program (prepared by the researcher).
Statistical methods of the study data:
- A non-parametric Wilcoxon Test was used for the associated samples.
- Calculating the averages and standard deviations for the performance of the study sample individuals.
Results :
There are statistically significant differences between the average pupils’ scores in the pre and post measurements on the dimensions of moral intelligence; (Empathy, fairness, compassion, tolerance, conscience, control, respect) and the overall degree of moral intelligence after applying the program in the direction of post measurement at the level of significance (01 , 0).
This means that students who have developed the dimensions of moral intelligence through the program used, their moral intelligence level increased, this indicates that the program with its many sessions and strategies included, has had an effective impact on the improvement of primary school pupils; Compared to what they were before the application of the program.
There are statistically significant differences between the average pupils’ scores in the pre and post measurements on the dimensions of sexual harassment (verbal, visual and physical) after applying the program in the direction of the post measurement at the significance level (01 , 0).
The results of the current study have been discussed and interpreted in the light of the theoretical framework, studies and research related to the subject of the study, and a set of recommendations and proposed research have been presented, and the results of the current study have been emerged upon the need for them.
