Abstract

Recently, cloud computing has grown into a popular aspect of the IT industry. Cloud computing provides a range of hardware and software resources to its customers, which they can access through the internet. With the rapid development of cloud computing, various security issues related to confidentiality and integrity are appearing.
Also anonymity in Location Based Services (LBSs) has attracted a great deal of attention. This is due to the emerging location-detection devices together with ubiquitous connectivity that have enabled a large variety of LBSs. Users have to reveal their location information to access LBSs in Vehicular Ad-hoc NETwork (VANET) system. However, this may threaten the user’s privacy.
Traditional encryption techniques provide security to data while it is stored and transmitted, but not while it is processed. Hence, traditional encryption techniques are not enough to secure data completely. Homomorphic encryption presents a resolution to this obstacle by allowing computation on encrypted data.
In this thesis, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) capabilities scheme (FHE-AES) is proposed. The proposed FHE-AES scheme can be implemented into applications like private data processing in cloud computing and LBSs, then these services are implemented in VANET system. The proposed scheme is computationally light, efficient, noise free, multi-hop and can be deployed in multiple user environments.
