Abstract

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction is a common disorder affecting about 39% of the population, which is commonly presented with pain, clicking sounds, and limitation of movement. It affects females more than males and more prevalent at young ages.Internal derangement is the most common cause of temporomandibular joint dysfunction which is defined as an abnormal relationship of the articular disc to the mandibular condyle.Disc displacement is the most common form of temporomandibular joint dysfunction. It may be displaced anterior, posterior, medial, lateral, or rotational. Anterior disc displacement is the most common type.
