Abstract

Schistosomiasis is the third most important tropical parasitic diseases in the world, after, genital worms and malaria. More than 207 million people, 85% of who live in Africa, are infected with schistosomiasis and an estimated 700 million people are at risk of infection in 76 countries, according the report of WHO (World Health Organization). The distribution of Schistosomiasis in the world is focal, depending on the variations of snail populations and human-water contact behavior. Mostly Schistosomiasis is affecting the liver and intestine causing granuloma formation, fibrosis and certain necrotic changes in the hepatic tissues. Chemotherapy treatment of Schistosoma infection is the most effective method for reducing the infection rates of schistosomiasis, but rapid reinfection demand frequent treatment and emphasizes. So, a major focus of research has been directed to use the natural products against S. mansoni infection. The present study was carried out to determine the effect of some natural products, saffron threads powder and berry powder, on some parasitological, biochemical and histopathological studies of male albino mice infected with S. mansoni cercaria
