Abstract Green tea (Camellia sinensis) extract can reduce the tissue damage caused by toxins due to its antioxidant. properties. In the present study, 60 male Westar rats were randomly divided into 6 groups group 1 (control group), group 2 (vitamin C group), group 3 (green tea extract group ( GTE ) ,group 4 (cadmium chloride group ), group 5 (vitamin C + Cd group) ,group 6( GTE + Cd group ) .After 30days, the testes of rats were taken for biochemical analysis of Catalase activity (CAT),Reduced. Glutathione level (GSH), Nitric Oxide activity (NO) and Malondialdehyde level (MDA).testosterone , FSH and LH levels as well as SYBR Green real time PCR for17-beta hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase III (17B.HSDIII). (Cd) toxicity decrease ant oxidative status of testes, Testosterone, FSH and LH levels while increase lipid peroxidation and NO level. (GTE) and (VitC) increased the activity of (CAT), level of (GSH) and (17beta HSDIII), while the level of (MDA) and (NO) were decreased compared to control. Conclusion: Green tea has an antioxidant effect that reduces the effects of free oxygen radicals produced from toxins such as cadmium chloride. In addition, it could decrease lipid peroxidation of the cell membrane and ultimately prevent the destruction of testes tissues. Key words: Infertility, Cadmium, Green tea extract, 17beta.H. |
