Abstract
Background: chronic kidney disease (CKD) refers to a condition related to irreversible kidney damage that can further progress to end-stage renal disease (ESRD). CKD is a major public health problem worldwide. ESRD is a devastating disorder associated with excessive mortality, cardiovascular morbidity, and specific problems occur in children, such as impaired growth and psychosocial adjustment, all of which severely impact upon the quality of life (Harambat et al., 2012). In addition to normal parental roles, being a parent of a child with CKD demands a high-level health care provider, problem solving, information seeking, and financial and practical skills at a time when the capacity to cope is threatened by physical tiredness, uncertainty, and disruption to peer support within and outside the family structure. Parents of children with CKD need multidisciplinary care, which may lead to improved outcomes for their children (Tong et al., 2008). The aim of the work: Aim of the work was assess life satisfaction of parents who have children with chronic kidney diseases. Type of study: Cross- sectional descriptive study with analytic component. Materials and Methods: We conducted Cross- sectional descriptive study in MUCH from January 2018 to April 2018 including 477 parents and their children provided that their children met the CKD definition Target population were all parents of children with CKD attended the above locality, they were subjected to an Arabic questionnaires that were completed by researcher during follow up visits and questionnairs include the following 1 Clinical and socio demographic data.2-A scale for measuring family socioeconomic status (SES) for health research in Egypt(Arabic version).3-Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS).4-Short -Form Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ-18).
