Abstract

Pulpectomy for pulpally involved deciduous teeth is a very challenging task for clinicians. Zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) has been commonly used as root canal filling material in primary teeth with great success rate. However, it is known to be an irritant. Endoflas, a mixture of ZOE, calcium hydroxide, and iodoform, can be considered to be an effective root canal filling material in primary teeth as compared with ZOE.
Aim: The current study was conducted to compare the clinical and radiographic success rates of Endoflas and ZOE used as root canal filling material in the treatment of primary molars indicated for pulpectomy.
Subjects and Methods: The 84 molars were randomly divided into two equal groups. Each group included 42 molars either primary first or second molar. group (A): 42 molars treated with Endoflas. group (B): 42 molars treated with ZOE.
Conclusion: Overall clinical and radiographic success rates were higher in Endoflas group.
