Abstract The present study aimed to evaluate serum Midkine as a diagnostic marker for Hepatocellular carcinoma in cirrhotic hepatitic C virus Egyptian patients. The study included 91 HCV-related cirrhotic patients, These 91 patients were divided into two groups: group (І) included 48 patients with HCC on top of cirrhotic hepatitic C virus (HCC group); group (ІІ) included 43 patients with cirrhotic hepatitic C virus without HCC (C group), this group was further subdivided into two subgroups, first one include 16 patients with cirrhotic nodule (CN subgroup) in liver, second one include 27 patients without cirrhotic nodule (C0 subgroup) in liver. In addition to the thorough history taking and clinical examination, diagnostic radiological and laboratory investigation, therefore we conclude that Serum Midkine is a new non-invasive biomarker with much better sensitivity and specificity in HCCdiagnosis |
