Abstract The hydraulic jump is a transitional case from the upstream supercritical flow to downstream subcritical flow. The phenomenon of the hydraulic jump has been commonly studied because of its mutual occurrence. The hydraulic jump has many functions. It uses as an instrument of wasting energy and attains subcritical flow downstream a channel. In treatment stations, it can be used as a device of mix chemicals instead of mechanical mixing and aerating water. For hydraulic structures like weir and regulator, it can be reduced uplift pressure and raising downstream water levels. |
