المستخلص The study begins with the topic of Urban Sprawl in Damietta City Margins, which represents the urban transformation of the structural system and its morphology. That urban sprawl followed economic, social and demographic changes contributed to this transformation, including population growth, increasing population sizes, increasing small families and fading of large families. in addition to the high level of income resulting from return of Egyptian traveling workers, which caused a surplus of investment in real estate. as well as demographic changes such as migration from the city of Damietta to the nearby areas, and changes of urban structure of these areas and their integration to Damietta city. Several factors encouraged rural urban sprawl in the study area during the period 1984-2018, including the availability of transportation, services and facilities serving the city and its surroundings, as well as the urban expansion as a result of the bulldozing of agricultural land and the development of rural areas. In addition to the political and social changes in the Arab region led to the return of Egyptian workers which affecting urban expansion in the areas of urban surplus and urban areas as well as the political and social changes in Egypt in the period following 25 January 2011 which had a negative impact on the encroachment on agricultural land in the absence of law. This urban expansion resulted in slums, many unused under construction buildings, decreasing agricultural areas, decreasing farmers and increasing the urban areas. |
