Abstract This research aims to make a comparison between the effect of using both natural and processed aggregate on the behavior of the hot asphaltic mixtures that are being used in road paving. In order to conduct this study, different types of both Natural & Processed Aggregates were studied, in terms of physical & mechanical properties, in terms of shape, texture, and so on. Researches that used Both Aggregates on the performance and characteristics of Hot Asphaltic Mixtures were reviewed to determine which gives better performance on the behavior of these Hot Asphaltic Mixtures. Research showed that the use of Aggregate with a rough surface achieves the highest values of Stability, while the use of smooth surface gives the lowest value of Stability and other characteristics of Hot Asphalt Mixtures. Therefore, the research recommends the use of Processed Aggregate and rough Gradation when designing Hot Asphalt Mixtures, because it gives better performance and less formation compared to Natural Aggregates and fine Gradation. |
