Abstract

The thesis is divided into 6 parts:- Part I: Introduction: Contains a brief description of the reported antimicrobial activity of the 2-substituted benzimidazoles, and other benzimidazole derivatives bearing other functional groups or heterocycles. Part II: Research objectives: represents the major aims that direct the theoretical and practical work.Part III: Theoretical discussion of the experimental work: It discusses: The different synthetic procedures for the preparation of the desired compounds with summarized data about the confirmation of these new compounds. In vitro biological screening and the enzyme inhibition assay performed in Confirmatory Diagnostic Unit, Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA), Egypt for antimicrobial evaluation. The molecular docking simulation performed to explore the binding interactions of prepared compounds with the E.coli DNA gyrase and the S. aureus topoisomerase IV. In silico studies : describes the results of Lipinski’s rule of five and toxicological properties of the synthesized active compounds.Part IV: Experimental part: represents the synthetic procedures used to prepare the new designed compounds and their spectroscopic data, the materials and methods adopted to perform the biological screening, in addition to programs and methodologies used in the docking simulation and in silico studies. Part V: Conclusion: This part presents concise findings of the work results. Part VI: References: This chapter comprises the references used during planning and performing different parts of the present work (104 references) and they are arranged according to their appearance in the text.
