Abstract

The present work is one of the conducted researches that concern the synthesis of some novel derivatives of both important categories ; the Quinazolinones and the Salicylates , which are well-known for their wide range of potent biological activities , in order to get new derivatives of possible biological and industrial applications . This study includes : [ Chapter 1 Introduction ] Represent a general review for the most famous synthetic routes for both Quinazolines and Salicylates and their important derivatives and their most applications in different fields, the most famous pharmacological and industrial applications are also considered [ Chapter 2 Experimental ] Experimental part includes the main synthetic routes and methods for the synthesis and reactions of target compounds , including their physical properties. [ Chapter 3 The Results and Discussion ] 3.1 Synthesis of Some Triazolo-4(3H)quinazoline Derivatives Concerning the reactions of 3-amino -2-N(4-chloro phenyl)-4(3H) quinazolinone and 3-amino -2-N(4-methoxy phenyl)-4(3H) quinazolinone with a set of aromatic aldehydes to yield the respective derivatives as shown in the following Scheme N N O NH NH2 X Ar - C -H O N N O N NH Ar pi peri di ne X The structure of these derivatives have been confirmed by spectral analysis , and their Anti-microbial activities were screened and showed moderate to weak activities 3.2 Synthesis of some new derivatives based on 2-phenyl benzoxazone nucleus This includes the use of the compounds 3-amino-2-phenyl- quinazoline-4(3H)-one and 6,8-di bromo 3-amino-2-phenyl- quinazoline-4(3H)-one in some reactions to yield new derivatives as follows : 3.2.1 Synthesis of some 2-phenyl-3-(2aryl-)4-thiazolidin-3-yl–quinazolin- 4(3H)one Including the reaction of 3-amino-2-phenylquinazoline-4(3H)-ones and 6,8-di bromo 3-amino-2-phenyl- quinazoline-4(3H)-one with a set of aromatic aldehydes in boiling methanol in the presence of a catalytic amount of pipredine under reflux conditions to yield the corresponding Schiff bases which were further reacted with mercapto acetic acid [ thioglycolic acid ] in DMF to yield the corresponding 2- phenyl -3-( 4-aryl)-4-thiazolidin-3-yl)-quinoxalin-4(3H)ones , as shown in the following Scheme N N X Y O Ph NH2 N N X Y O Ph N C H ArCHO N N X Y O Ph S N O Ar SHCH2COOH R The structure of these derivatives were confirmed by spectral analysis , and their Anti-microbial activities were screened and showed moderate activities 3.2 Synthesis of some 3-(2-phenyl-quinazolin-4(3H)one-3-yl)-hydrazono derivatives The 3-amino-2-phenylquinazoline-4(3H)-ones and 6,8-di bromo-3-amino-2-phenyl -quinazoline-4(3H)-one were reacted with some active methylene compounds via two step reaction to give the corresponding 3-(2-phenyl-quinazolin-4(3H)one-3-yl)- hydrazono derivatives , as in the following Scheme N N O NH2 Ph X Y NaNO2 / HCl N N O H N N Ph C R1 R2 X CH2 Y R2 2- R1 1- The structure of these derivatives were confirmed by spectral analysis , and their Anti-microbial activities were screened and showed moderate activities 3.3 Synthesis of some azo dyes of 2-phenyl-3amino–quinazolin-4(3H)-one The compounds 3-amino-2-phenylquinazoline-4(3H)-ones were coupled with some suitable couplers to produce a set of azo-dyes with light shades according to the following Scheme N N X Y Ph O NH2 NaNO2 / HCl N N X Y Ph O N N Ar 1. 2. suitable couplers / aq. NaOH The produced azo-dyes were applied on deying polyester fibers according to certain procedure , then their fastness properties were estimated and showed mild properties The structure of these derivatives were confirmed by spectral analysis , and their Anti-microbial activities were screened and showed moderate activities 3.4 Synthesis and reactions of some 2-Hydrazino-quinazolinone derivatives 2-hydrazino-4(3H) quinazolinones were prepared due to sequence reactions shown in the following scheme starting from the reaction of anthranilic acids with ammonium thiocyanate in diethylene glycol under reflux then converting the thioxo group into the corresponding methyl-thio group by the action of methyl iodide in alkaline medium , then it was treated with hydrazine hydrate in boiling methanol under reflux conditions. The oxidation of the methyl thio-derivatives by potassium permanganate in acetic acid afforded the corresponding sulfonyl derivatives The 2-hydrazino-4(3H) quinazolinones were then reacted
