Abstract

This study was done to compare three scoring systems namely GSS, S.T.O.N.E and the nephrolithometric nomogram (CROES) in predicting the success of PCNL and assessment of correlation with the complications classified according to modified Clavien system using standardized reporting methods. This is prospective study conducted on 162 patients from January 2017 till January 2019 at Department of Urology, Benha University Hospital. The study protocol approved by the Research Ethical Committee of the Faculty. The study included all adult patients (>18 years) with renal stones who are candidate to PCNL with exclusion of patients with active urinary tract infection, cases admitted for second look PCNL and coagulopathy. All patients were evaluated by history taking and physical examinationwith assessment of patient demographics ;age , gender , main co morbidities , previous shock wave lithotripsy or renal surgery history of ureteroscopy and (weight and height) by body mass index (BMI).Scars of prior operations, incisional hernia, and abdominal or flank swelling as regard examination.Investigations were done in the form of routine lab including urine analysis and culture, complete blood picture and coagulation profile, complete biochemical profile including kidney and liver function and radiological investigations were done including Pelvi abdominal U/S. KUB and non-contrast spiral CT abdomen and pelvis. Patients were categorized by the three scoring systems according to criteria for calculation of each score preoperatively and patients were operated by our consultants performing PCNL in prone position under general anesthesia.
