The Arab region, especially Egypt, is facing the highest level of terrorist attacks and the great security challenges faced by militias and armed groups over the last 20 years in terms of the scope and variety of terrorist operations and the possession of these terrorist organizations. The security situation in the region has become more complex because of the network of relations between these terrorist organizations that have exceeded the borders of the states. The objectives of the terrorist operations were not limited to targeting the security forces, Civilians and acts of violence against public and private facilities. Egypt has been undergoing a violent wave of terrorist attacks over the past five years. Since 2013, confrontations have been taking place between the security forces and extremist Islamic groups in the north of Egypt. Egypt ranked 11th in the global terrorism index, which includes 163 countries with a rate of 7.17%, according to the Australian Institute of Economics and Peace in its annual report for 2017. The report pointed out that the number of terrorist incidents in Egypt in 2016, The previous years, with the occurrence of 261 accidents behind 293 dead and 376 injured. , Different from the pattern of terrorism that hit the country during the eighties and nineties of the twentieth century and this requires a study and a different understanding of the structure of these militias and armed groups and the demands of a confrontation radically different from what existed during the last quarter of the twentieth century.
