Abstract Air and moisture stable coordination compounds of some transition metal ions such as Ag (I), VO (II) and Pd (II) with newly designed bi- and tri-dentate imine ligands (NBA, HNAP, HNA and DAPH) were synthesized. Bi-dentate imine ligands (NBA, HNAP) were synthesized by reacting 3-nitro benzaldehyde (NB) or 2-hydroxynapthaldehyde (HN) with 2-amino benzoic acid (A) or 3-amino pyridine (AP), respectively. Whereas tri-dentate imine ligands (HNA and DAPH) were prepared by reacting 2- hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde (HN) or 2,6 diacetyl pyridine (DA) with 2-amino benzoic acid (A) or phenyl hydrazine hydrochloride (PH), respectively. All the prepared imine ligands were analyzed by their melting points, 1HNMR, 13CNMR spectra, elemental analyses, UV-Vis and IR spectra. The data obtained from spectral investigation especially 1H and 13CNMR confirmed the formation of azomethine nitrogen in the ligands structure. Molecular structures of the prepared imine complexes were identified by several techniques including mass spectra, elemental analyses, IR. |
