Abstract The thesis is prefaced by a comprehensive literature survey that describes research of quinoline and 1,3,4-oxadiazole/1,2,4-triazole skeletons that have been known for their anticancer activity. The strategy of the work is concerned with design, building, synthesis and spectroscopic properties of a series of twenty four hybrid compounds containing both 2-phenylquinoline-4-carboxylic acid and 1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thione /1,2,4-triazole-3-thione derivatives, followed by biological evaluation of these compounds for their anticancer activity against 60 human cancer cell lines (NCI USA protocol) derived from nine tumor subpanels including: leukemia, lung, colon, CNS, melanoma, ovarian, renal, prostate, and breast cancer cell lines |
