Abstract

Nitrogen containing heterocyclic molecules are one of the most promising structural moieties for drug design. Among these heterocycles phthalazine and oxadiazole have gained much interest and received great attention during the past years because they exhibit a wide range of biological activities such as antimicrobial [1-5], antitumor [6,7], anti-inflammatory [8,9] and anticancer activities [10-14]. The following survey is focused on brief information of synthesis, reactions and applications of phthalazine and oxadiazole dervatives.Chemistry of phthalazine dervatives:Synthesis of substituted phthalazinone derivatives 1. from phthalic acid derivatives 1.1. Derivatives of phthalic acid are used as reactive key precursors for synthesis of phthalazinones via their treatment with hydrazine hydrate and hydrazine dervatives. Thus, treatment of phthalic anhydride with hydrazine hydrate in acetic acid gives phthalazinone 1. Related molecules 4, 6 were reported using compounds 2,3 and 5 [15-27].
