Abstract -The thesis represented the chemistry and structure of aryl and hetaryl thiopyran. Its summarized in a good, valuable and publishable survey of the field of heterocyclic chemistry. -The thesis investigated the synthesis of both 2- mercapto- 4,6- dimethyl nicotinonitrile and their fused heterocyclic systems. -The aim of the present thesis is to design and synthesize some new bioactive heterocyclic systems starting from 2-mercapto-4,6-dimethyl-nicotinonitrile as significant synthons and to assess the biological activity of the new compounds as well. -All the new heterocyclic compounds have been investigated for their cytotoxicity against well known established model EAC in vitro. -Compound 6 may be potentially used as a radiopharmaceutical for tumor diagnosis when labeled with 125I. Also, from the structure activity relationship (SAR) we found that, fused thiopyranopyridine (13) and thienopyridine (12) derivatives showed higher antitumor activity than the open structure 3 and 11. |
