Abstract Gastric ulcer is one of the most important gastrointesti-nal disordered affecting many peoples worldwide. Therefore a special interest should be given to find natural medications to protect and treat this disease. Natural extracts from plants are more preferred because of wide safety margins and less or no adverse health effects. Moringa (Moringa oleifera Lam.) and linseed oil (Linum usitatissimum L.) have been identified as natural alternative medications for prevention and treatment of various disorders particularly, gastric ulcer. The present study was conducted to evaluate the antiulcer activities of hydroethanolic extract of Moringa leave and linseed oil on piroxicam induced gastric ulcer. The pharmacological effects of Moringa and linseed oil were investigated through measuring of gastric volume, gastric juice percentage, mean ulcer score, ulcer index and curative ratio. The results were confirmed by haematological, biochemical and histopathological examination. Experimental design: Forty five male Wister albino rats weighing 180-200 gm, were divided into five equal groups each contain nine rats. All rats were given piroxicam as a single oral dose after 24 hour of fasting except control group. |
