Abstract The study aimed to assess the nurses’ knowledge, practices and attitude regarding prevention of surgical unit infection. Results: showed that 61.9% of the studied nurses between the ages of 20-30 years, 60.3% of the studied nurses had an unsatisfactory level of knowledge regarding infection and how to prevent it in the surgery units, 52.4% of the nurses had an unsatisfactory level of practice with regard to prevention of surgical unit infection. Conclusion: that there is statistically significant positive correlation between nurses’ knowledge and their practices. Recommendation; The study recommended providing specialized textbooks, handouts, posters and training materials dealing with infection control in Arabic language for the staff nurses working in surgical units. Also establishing infection control committee in the health assurance hospitals under supervision of ministry of health. |
