Abstract Objectives : The aim of the study: The aim of the study will be to compare the clinical and radiographic efficacy between osseodensification and osteotome technique in crestal sinus lift operation. Methods : A total of 12 patients of both genders were included in this study for fixed replacement of edentulous posterior maxillary area with delayed-loaded dental implant(s) placed in conjugation with crestal maxillary sinus floor elevation .The average age was 40 years (range from 22 years to 58 years). The patients were divided equally into two groups. In the first group, the drilling and sinus lifting was done using osteotomes while, in the second group, sinus lifting was done using osseodensification technique. Patients were evaluated clinically and radiographically at regular time intervals immediately, 3, 6 and 9 months postoperative. All clinical and radiographic parameters were subjected to statistical analysis. Results : After 9 months, 12 implants were stable and survived. There was no significant difference in implant stability (RFA) and graft height apically through the whole study period between the two groups. There was significant difference in pain scale between the two group with preference to the osseodensification (OD) group. Conclusions : Osseodensification (OD) technique is an alternative treatment modality for crestal sinus floor elevation producing less pain after surgery and having higher acceptance by patients in comparison to osteotome technique. |
