Abstract

he repetitive brake process in vehicles, the temperature of the rotating
m can reach to 250°C, however, for the brake lining can reach to 300°C. The
igh temperature of the drum and linings types with different causing a
decrease in the friction coefficient and this leads to decrease the braking force
f’the brake system. In this research, the drum brake lining properties of Suzuki
an model 2014 car is changed in vehicle Laboratory, Faculty of Industrial
Education, Helwan University. In order to study the brake performance at
ifferent operation parameters. Therefore, the present research has been carried
ut to investigate experimentally the performances of drum brake with three
pIes (A.B,C) at different operation parameters.
The experimental results showed that, the increase of the brake oil pressure of
alues 4, 8, 12, 16 bar respectively at sliding speed 150 r.p.m decreases the
ean brake force of the drum brake system with sample C by 3%, 3%, 4%, 4%
d 9%, 9.8 %, 10.6%, 11 % respectively for the drum brake system with
mple A according to the value ofthe mean brake force of the drum brake with
e experimental results indicated also that, the increase of the sliding speed
om 50 rpm to 200 r.p.m at brake oil pressure 12 bar decreases the value of the
ean brake force of the drum brake system with sample C decreases
pproximately by 6%, 6%, 4%, 4% respectively over the value of the mean
rake force of the drum brake system with sample B, and the value of the mean
rake force of the drum brake system with sample A decreases approximately
by 10%. 10.5%, 11 %,1 0.5% respectively over the value of the mean brake force
ofthe drum brake system with sample B.
The experimental results also illustrated that. the final temperature of the drum
brake system with three samples (A,B.C) are increased with increasing the
ake oil pressure. At each constant pressure and at sliding speed 200 r.p.m
