Abstract

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have received growing attention from both the research community and real customers in latest years. Since sensor nodes are commonly battery powered devices, reducing energy consumption of nodes is a significant aspect, so we concentrated on creating communication network with minimal power and cost. To accomplish these different techniques, full wireless sensor network monitoring was created. In general, communication between the source nodes and the destination node with an abundant number of hops consuming energy in the wireless sensor network. The node present between the source and destination nodes consumes maximum energy for transmission of data and reduces network life time. To overcome this issue, this thesis developed an advanced SERAN (Semi-Random) protocol to increase network lifetime. The developed method reduces energy consumption among a specific group of WSN. For energy efficiency, a residual battery is utilized for effective transmission of data with minimal power consumption. The proposed SERAN protocol contains four parts: Advanced Clustering, Mobile Sink, Swapping and Emergency Efficient Hybrid MAC (EEHMAC). The minimum distance is calculated so that the minimum energy cost is imposed for data communication. Simulation results are provided to prove the efficiency, average delay, loss of the data and network lifetime. The results are compared with old algorithms. We compare between algorithms based on performance measures such as network lifetime, average delay of the network and loss of the data. The proposed SERAN-EEHM Hybrid MAC protocol is simulated in NS2 tools, from the outcome results it is observed that the proposed protocol gives better execution compared with the other MAC conventions. This thesis will give an evaluation of the performance of EEHM Access control protocol in WSNs.
