Abstract Punching shear is a type of failure of reinforced concrete slabs subjected to high localized forces. In flat slab structures this occurs at column support points. This failure is due to shear. There are two types of punching shear failure, pure shear punching and flexural punching. The first type occurs in flat slab with large reinforcement ratios and occurs with small displacement. The second type occurs in flat slab with small reinforcement ratios and occurs after large displacement. This research presents a method for strengthening flat slab-column connections using internal post-tension cables. Numerical method was used to study the importance of this method in strengthening. |
