Abstract
Practices of children rights by pediatric nurses are very important for building up an efficient and qualified nurse and improve hospitalized children satisfaction. Aim: This study aimed to assess children rights practices among pediatric nurses and hospitalized children satisfaction. Subjects and method: A descriptive correlational research design was conducted at three hospitals in Port Said governorate. The sample was 54 pediatric nurses and 140 hospitalized children/ guardians. Data was collected by using pediatric nurses’ practices toward the rights of hospitalized children checklist and hospitalized children/guardians satisfaction scale. Results: The highest percentage of pediatric nurses had good practices regarding hospitalized children rights. Also, less than one quarter of studied pediatric nurses had poor practices toward adequate information and written informed consent dimension and rights of medication administration dimension. As well as, most of pediatric patient/guardians had high satisfaction toward their rights. Also, less than one quarter of pediatric patient/guardians had low satisfaction toward adequate information dimension. Conclusion: There was a positive statistical significant correlation between hospitalized children satisfaction and pediatric nurses’ practices regarding their rights. Recommendation: Implement educational program for pediatric nurses to increase their knowledge and improve their practice toward hospitalized children rights.
