Abstract

Insect species under investigation can be represented as the first record of termites inhabiting trees in delta region. A full knowledge of the structure of termite’s proventriculus and stomodeal valve was represented. Secretion and structure of the peritrophic matrix were first to be recorded in details as well as secretion of digestive enzymes by the mid gut of termites. Structure, function, degeneration and regeneration by the replacement cells were well illustrated. Flagellates were the only detected micro-biota in this species of lower termites. from the obtained results, it is can be concluded that, the proventriculus, midgut and hindgut of the studied termite species is structurally and functionally adapted to utilize the food of such hard nature like wood.
