Abstract The aim of the present study was conducted to evaluate the protective effects of Moringa and vitamin E in rats against Cisplatin adverse effects, These effects regards to some parameters as liver and kidney functions, antioxidant activity, as well as histopathological findings. Expermental protocol: Eighty albino rats weighting at the beginning of the experiment 180 ± 20 gm. Animals were housed in cages at 25 ± 0.5º C. The animals were divided into 4 main groups: At the end of experimental (12 hrs. after the last dose) rats were sacrificed and the samples were collected: - effects on liver functions. - effects on kidney functions. - effects on antioxidant activity. Tissue samples also were taken from liver and kidney of rats under study to assess histopathological effects of drugs in the 21st days . A) Effects on Liver functions: 1- Aspartate aminotransferase. 2- Alanine transaminase. 3- Alkaline phosphatase. 4- Total protein. 5- Albumin. B-Effects on kidney functions: 1- Urea. 2- Creatinine. C- Effects on oxidant/ antioxidant activity: 1- Catalase. 2- Glutathione Peroxidase. 3- Malondialdhyde. C- Histopathological effects: group 1: Control group 2: Cisplatin Severe cystic dilatation of the proximal and distal tubules in cortex and collected tubules in medulla were detected. group 3: Cisplatin +Vit. E group 4: Cisplatin +Moringa. |
