Abstract

Posterior wall fracture of the acetabulum couldn’t be dealt with as a simple fracture as our results showed 51% of the cases were associated with hip dislocation, posterior column comminution in 13 case (72%), 26% of the cases with multifragmentary posterior wall fracture, 60% of cases had articular impaction fracture, femoral head impaction fracture in 24% and retained bone fragement in the hip in 27.5% of the cases, all these results gave us a conclusion that posterior wall acetabular fracture is more difficult and more complicated than what we used to think and many factors affect the fracture and its postoperative quality and outcome.
Postoperative quality of reduction is the main indicator of the outcome in acetabular fracture.
Plain radiograph is not enough and not accurate in assessing the quality of postoperative reduction and CT is more accurate and more reliable.
