Abstract

This study was carried out on 20 mature males rats were divided into four equal groups each of 5 as followed:
group (1): control group, rats are not medicated and received normal saline.
group (2): given Vit E (100 mg kg b.wt) for 14 successive days as standard anti-oxidant once daily.
group (3): given tamsulosin (0.0072 mg kg b.wt) for 14 successive days once daily.
group (4): given (tamsulosin + vit E) (100 mg kg b.wt) plus (0.0072 mg kg b.wt) respectively for 15 successive days once daily.
Blood was collected at 15th day of the experimental period (24 hrs. after the last dose), 5 rats/ group were used for collection of blood samples in clean and dry bottles without anticoagulant for separation of clear serum for biochemical analysis. Each blood sample was collected in centrifuge tubes and left in slope position to clot at room temperature. Serum was separated by centrifugation at 1174 xg for 10 min, and the clear sera were collected and stored at -20ºC using for different biochemical parameters. For histopathological evaluation, liver and kidney were collected at 15th day post-treatment. Specimens were kept in 10% neutral formalin and processed in paraffin wax for staining and microscopical examination.
