Abstract

Quality of work life and job empowerment is two way interaction and both of them create productivity in organization. So quality of work life is an important predicator to empowering staff nurses. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between quality of work life and job empowerment among staff nurses. A descriptive correlational design was utilized with a sample of 181 nurses who working at Port Said and El-Zouhor general hospitals in Port Said city. Two tools of data collection were used: Quality of work life scale and condition of work Empowerment Questionnaires. Results, staff nurses had moderate level of quality of work life, work context dimension had the highest mean score, while work world dimension had the lowest mean score. Staff nurses had moderate level of job empowerment, the highest mean score was access to opportunity, and the lowest mean score was access to resources. Conclusion, there was statistical significance positive correlation between quality of work life and job empowerment among staff nurses. Recommendations, that to empower their staff nurses more than ever, the managers try more to promote them, development of staff capacities: that increase the availability of opportunities for learning different skills, and help staff nurses experience working life quality.
