Abstract The present study investigated the effectiveness of multicultural approach in developing Dialogue and Debate Skills in English of Al-Azhar Experimental Secondary Institute Students. The participants of the study were (64) female students who were selected from Al-Zohor Experimental Secondary Institute for Girls at Port-Said. They were two intact groups: a control group and an experimental group. To identify and develop the most required dialogue and debate skills, a questionnaire containing a list of dialogue and debate skills was designed for validation by TEFL specialists. Based on the selected skills, the researcher designed a pre-post dialogue and debate skills test that was validated by the jury members. Both groups were pre-tested. Then, the experimental group students were taught using multicultural approach whereas the control group students received regular instruction. Again, both groups were post tested. The results of administering the dialogue and debate pre-post test showed that the multicultural approach proved to be effective in developing dialogue and debate skills in English of Al-Azhar experimental secondary institute students. |
