Abstract
Although the local and international construction and operation guidelines play important role in conservation of the natural resources, develop local economy, conserve local culture, increase eco-lodge profits and improve eco-guests satisfactions, there is a lack of implementation of these guidelines in Egyptian ecolodges. Therefore, this research determines how the ecolodges implement these guidelines in construction, operation and management stages. It aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of applying these guidelines.
The researcher designed his research as a qualitative deductive Research. He used a frame of reference and aimed to gain a deeper understanding of this phenomenon using the case study strategy to find out, the current situation of eco-lodge guidelines in construction, operation and management in South Sinai. Four cases were selected “Basata Camp, Castel Beach Sinai, Moon Island Camp and Al- Karem Ecolodge” and data were collected from them using a triangulation of data collection methods includes “Interviews, Direct observations, Documentation” then the data were analyzed using the pattern matching method.
The study introduced the eco-hotel managers with a detailed framework to guides them when applied ecolodge guidelines in construction and operation phase. That framework highlighted how the eco-hotel can use ecolodge guidelines in construction and operation phase to formulate the eco-hotels (ecolodges) eco-product and eco-service offers
