Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the effects of using the lexical approach- based activities to enhance vocabulary learning. Towards this end, two classes from Kafer azzam Preparatory school participated in the study. Fifty students were selected through tactic sampling. They were divided into two groups of 25. The present study adopted the quasi-experimental design, using one experimental group and one control group. This experiment utilized a Pre-post-vocabulary test which was developed, validated and administered to the two groups to verify their homogeneity and equivalence in terms of vocabulary learning and the use of collocations. The experimental group was taught through using the proposed Lexical approach based- activities, whereas the control group was taught vocabulary items adopting the textbook techniques. The post vocabulary test was administered to the two groups after the treatment. The findings of the study revealed that the students who were taught via the lexical approach based- activities outperformed those who were taught adopting the textbook technique .The study recommended using online lexical approach - based activities program to enhance students’ writing.
