Abstract Series of Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II), and Sr(II), complexes of new dehydroacetic acid hydrazone have been prepared and characterized using elemental analyses, IR, UV-Vis, 1H- and 13CNMR, Mass spectra, Magnetism, Conductance, Thermal analyses (DTA and TGA) and ESR measurements. Elemental and spectral analyses indicate, the complexes are distorted octahedral structure. The conductance show non-ionic character. The Cu(II) complexes show anisotropic character (dx2-y2) with considerable covalent bond character, however, Co(II) and Mn(II) complexes show isotropic type confirming octahedral structure. Interface between structural biology and chemistry may provide the most productive means for discovering and improving upon novel anticancer agents. Invitro cytotoxic evolution of the ligand and some of its metal complexes against HepG-2 cell line have been carried out. The obtained results show enhanced activity of the complexes in comparison to the parent ligand or a standard drug (Doxorubicin) especially Sr(II), Cd(II), Cu(II) and mixed Cu(II) / Zn(II) complexes relative to IC50. |
