Abstract

The present study was conducted on (50) HD patients under regular haemodialysis due to ESRD from Nasr City Insurance Hospital dialysis center. The study population divided into two groups followed over (12) months, the groups were classified as follows:
• Intervention group included (25) CV HD patients who were known to have any of the following risk factors: (Frequent intra-dialysis complication related to UF, EF< 45% by echo assessment modalities& IHD. (FO pre dialysis) was assessed by BIA monthly before dialysis session.
• Control group included (25) clinically stable HD patients with none of the above risk factors. The rounding physicians according to their judgment of volume status by routine clinical examinations adjusted dry weight.

The results of the bio-impedance monitoring in intervention group by the end of the study were as follow:
o Statistically significant decline in pre& post-dialysis systolic BP in the intervention group versus the control group with (p<0.001).
o Statistically significant decline in the rate of use of BB and ACEI drugs in the intervention group with (P=0.047, P=0.002) respectively versus the control group.
o Statistically significant decline in the rate of IDH in intervention & control group with (P<0.01).
o there was statistically significant decline in FO pre (L), TAFO (L), IDWG (L)and post-dialysis weight(Kg) in the intervention group with(P<o.001),however in intergroup analysis, it became evident that pre FO (L), TAFO (L), IDWG (L) and post-dialysis weight (Kg) decrease in the intervention group were significantly higher than the control group. This difference was significant in the adjusted analysis with (P=0.017, P=0.019, P=0.008& P=0.005) respectively.
o There was significant decrease in urine volume in the two groups with (P<0.001).
o (LVMI, LVIDD, RVDD and left atria volume) values assessed by Echo showed a statistically significant decline in the two groups with (P<0.001), however in intergroup analysis, it became evident that (LVMI, LVIDD and RVDD) values and left atria volume decrease in the intervention group were significantly higher than the control group. This difference was significant in the adjusted analysis with (p<0.017, p<0.007& p<0.000) respectively.
o Hemoglobin & serum albumin levels increased significantly in both groups, additionally, monthly requirements of erythropoietin alpha, iron supplementations decreased significantly with (P<0.001).
o There was statistically significant decline in the number of patients with high CRP & statistically significant increase in equilibrated Kt/v by the end of the study in intervention group and control group with (P<0.001).
