Abstract
Chronic heart failure (CHF) remains an important clinical entity that has an increased prevalence worldwide. CHF remains the leading cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The risk stratification of CHF individuals based on clinical criteria and estimated biomarkers may improve medical care and probably increase efficacy of treatment strategy. An ideal biomarker should be a prognostic indicator, assists the early diagnosis, reflects the therapeutic response, and help in classifying the risk associated with each stage of heart failure. This study was controlled, parallel, prospective study. The study was conducted between February 2015 to March 2016. 41 patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) were recruited from Cardiology Department at Tanta University Hospital, Egypt. The CHF patient group was compared to 30 healthy control volunteers.
