Abstract

A defect in abomasal emptying rate are believed to play important roles in the etiopathogenesis of abomasal disorders in adult cattle and calves. Prokinetic agents have the ability to stimulate, coordinate, and restore gastric, pyloric, and small intestinal motility.
The present work included 2 studies :
Study 1:-
This study was aimed to :
1- Document the normal reference range of hematological, biochemical, ruminal juice parameters and ultrasonoghraphic measures in adult dairy cattle.
2- Assessment the effect of some prokinetics on abomasal emptying rate 4 times every 2 hours.
Forty Friesian apparently healthy non pregnant cows examined at a private dairy farm in Sharkia province . These cows were 30-60 DIM , fed on TMR (lactating ration), weighted ranged between 500-650 Kg , aged (3-5)year and received periodical vaccination and anthelmintic program.
These cows were divided into 4 groups to assess the rate of abomasal emptying /min and evaluate the effect of Tylosin and Metoclopramide in separate and combined prokinetic action.
Study 2 :
This study was designed to:
1. Determine the different causes of AED under field condition.
2. Detect the clinical, hematological and ruminal juice alterations in cattle with AED in compared to control.
3. Evaluate the therapeutic responses of dietetic causes to prokinetics selected from study 1.
